HIGH PLAINS STORM DISTRICT GOLF RESULTS AND STATE QUALIFIERS!

The High Plains golf team ended their regular season with a 4th place finish at the D-2 district at Indianhead Golf club with a team score of 377. This is a 26 stroke improvement from their team score at the same venue last Thursday. Dylan Shenk  led the team with an 83 which tied for 4th overall and Wyatt Fleming  followed with an 84 which tied for 5th. By virtue of scorecard countback, Dylan received the 5th place medal and Wyatt received the 8th place medal. Tanner Hannappel added a 95 followed by Shelbi Dittmer’s 115 and Kendra Samuelson’s 128. The High Plains Storm qualified six for the State Track & Field meet held at Omaha Burke May 18th and 19th. Matthew Pekarek, receives $1000 scholarship

Matthew Pekarek, an 8th grade student at High Plains Community, has been named the first place winner of a $1000 scholarship awarded by the Nebraska State Treasurer’s office.   Matthew is the son of Jim Pekarek.  An essay contest, “Why I Want To Go To College” has been sponsored by the treasurer’s office for the past 10 years.  Mrs. Karen Benner’s English class has participated in this contest for the past seven years.  Matthew’s essay was selected as the winner from all entries in the 3rd . . . read more
